Gallery 100 will launch DIASPORA – The Short Films Exhibition of MIDI Z at Dunnan gallery on 05 November 2016. Including two short films "The Palace On The Sea", "My Folks in Jade City".

"The Palace On The Sea"

A boat is anchored in the harbor. A ghost of a woman who came from afar has been lingering nearby, searching for the way home. It looks as if she had escaped; but once again, she gets imprison in her memories. Chanting of the Buddhist scriptures is heard. The lover in her previous life becomes a monk in this life. He chants the scripture as he guides her and other suffering souls to the next world.

"My Folks in Jade City"

Since the 1990s, Jade City had been occupied by the government and the corporations that had struck deals with the regime, and therefore there was no place for ordinary workers. However, when the war between the government and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) broke out in 2012, the corporations were forced to halt their mining operation since the mines, stretching hundreds of kilometres had become a war zone. Despite the danger, migrant workers from all over Burma flocked to Jade City, hoping to make a better living. Among the waves of the miners were my family, friends and relatives from my hometown, including my eldest brother, my brother-in-law’s brother and his father, my cousins and friends.
